The Mambo Legends Orchestra is honored to perform this month as part of the South Bronx Culture Festival presented by Casita Maria Center for Arts & Education, one of New York City’s most important cultural institutions dedicated to uplifting Latino arts, education, and community.
Located in the South Bronx, Casita Maria has long served as a vital space for artistic expression, cultural preservation, and opportunity for generations of young people and families. For decades, the organization has played an essential role in supporting the arts within the community while celebrating the rich cultural traditions that continue to shape New York City.
For the members of the Mambo Legends Orchestra, performing in a space so deeply connected to the history and spirit of Latino culture carries special meaning. The music of mambo, Afro-Cuban jazz, and salsa was born from communities like these — built in neighborhoods, social clubs, schools, dance halls, and cultural centers throughout New York City.
The orchestra looks forward to sharing an evening of music that honors the legacy of the great bandleaders, arrangers, and musicians who helped create this music while continuing to bring it to new audiences and future generations.
The Mambo Legends Orchestra extends its sincere thanks to everyone at Casita Maria for their continued dedication to arts education, culture, and community, and for welcoming the orchestra to be part of this important tradition.
